Yes! This goes for a high five and a fist pound. It's the simple things that break down a wall from people (whether you're just meeting them or are already friends). Plus it's playful as hell :P

High fives were very common where I grew up, in the Midwest. It was such a knee jerk reaction for me I had to train myself off them when I moved to NYC in my twenties, because I was left hanging so many times (which now makes me laugh!). This is both fun and nostalgic for me, as I hadn’t thought about them in years. No one around me where I live now (The Catskills) seems to do them much, but I love the playful, connective energy in them. You’re right that it’s a fun, non-creepy way to connect with you kid’s friends (even if some closer ones ask for/want a hugs), colleagues and teammates. Yah for bringing them back.

I’m a hugger but high Fives are the best I agree .. it can be incorporated in so many times/places per your examples . It makes you feel good 😊

Ha! I am a medium hugger, but one time I went in for a hug with someone who clearly didn't want it. So I've learned my lesson!
